This is Part 5 of Silkin Management Group’s multi-part series on why you should hold daily morning meetings in your office.
In our last article, which you can access on this Silkin Management Group blog site: http://bit.ly/vm00yj we went over two new points on why to hold morning musters. Those points were a) sharing relevant knowledge of patient information (i.e. is it the patient’s birthday, was there a recent birth in the family, etc.) and b) proper handling of patients who are friends or relatives of the doctor and/or staff.
Today we’ll present two more relevant points regarding holding morning meetings.
• What to do when a staff member is absent: At the morning meeting you will know very quickly when you are missing a staff member. Whether the person holds an administrative or clinical position, the day’s schedule will have to be looked at for possible adjustments and how to use other staff to cover essential activities.
• Special needs for the next day: Special needs are things such as the doctor preparing for an upcoming complicated procedure which needs preparatory work well ahead of time, attendance at an evening meeting for the doctor and/or staff that might require a different dress code for the day, how to fill any gaping scheduling holes for the next day, etc. The responsibility for monitoring special needs should fall to the Office Manager and she/he should attempt to look at least 48 hours ahead for upcoming special needs that require attention.
In our next Silkin Management Group blog we’ll present several more reasons to hold morning meetings for office coordination.
